We aim to make a difference in the lives of people with a disability but we really can’t without the help of people like you.
Could you help us to help others?
Could you, or someone that you know, spare a couple of hours a week – at a time convenient to you or to them?
We can offer training, support and out of pocket expenses. You would offer to help improve the quality of life of disabled people, giving the help now that you may need yourself in the future.

Would you be able to?
Commit yourself to a three hour session on a rota once a week (or more)
Attend agreed and necessary training so that you keep up to date on relevant changes in laws, policies and procedures, both locally and nationally, that affects those peoples with a disability population.
Listen carefully, demonstrating an open minded approach which does not judge clients and their needs.
Explain things clearly and in a supportive manner to someone who may be confused or upset.
Write clear and comprehensive notes on what you have heard and done so that any necessary follow-up work can be done as soon as possible.

if so, then you could have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of a lot of local people as a volunteer advisor in our Disability Information and Advice Line service. in return we provide our volunteer advisors with all the training they need, a friendly and stimulating environment to work in, constant support - and we pay any expenses they incur.
